Funding
The TSB technological fund is a private foundation. It was implemented to support science and research, as well as education an innovative scientific technologies. The TSB is made up up different departments for science, economy, politics, coordination and public communications. The Zunkunftsfonds Berlin supports innovative projects with strategic meaning for the city of Berlin. Current topics of interest are bio- and medical technologies, information and communication technology, energy technology, transportation technology, and optical technology. The European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) is an important structural fund for economically weaker regions. This is realized through the funding and financial support of regional small and medium sized businesses to secure long-term employment. Moreover, the businesses are aided with infrastructural projects and technological support.
The Investment Bank Berlin (IBB) is the central funding organ of the state of Berlin. The bank supports Berlin’s economy and funds housing projects. The IBB’s main objective is to support small and medium local businesses; this includes monetary funding, comprehensive financial counseling and funding and credits based on economic criteria to support innovative, technologically oriented businesses in Berlin.
